Human experience is not linear. Nor is psychotherapy. At one time you might find that the process moves in linear direction, at another in a circular movement, inward or outward. Every step is important and has a place in understanding your own experience.
Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to turn toward something new, a portal to a new direction. Some issues may call for practical solutions, while others may require a change in perspective, a broadening of your capacity to see yourself in the context of your concerns.
Psychotherapy supports growth, interdependence, curiosity, courage, maturation, vulnerability, support, flexibility, wisdom, and community. I believe we all have the capacity to expand beyond our personal constraints, to develop or reconnect with these values.
In whichever direction your experience goes I want to hear from you.
I see psychotherapy as a rite of initiation with two important components: the safety of the space, free from distractions and comfortable enough to allow personal unfolding; and the experience, wisdom, and guidance of the clinician. I am a warm, supportive, understanding clinician with over twenty years of experience in the mental health field.
